she’s No Michelangelo

These are details from a series of large drawings, many of which became a 400 sq. foot ceiling installation in the UVU library in 2013 called "She's No Michelangelo." They are art historical jokes, with some serious feminist questioning. I started this as an assignment for myself to practice putting figures into backgrounds. Then I did my usual thing by taking art historical icons and turning it in to a lighthearted feminist critique of some of the great masters. Most of the drawings are either 4' x 4' or 4' x 8'. I had great fun creating the architecture that holds it together and I loved that it was on the ceiling.
