About

Author/Illustrator Visits (K-6)

I truly enjoy kids, books, and teaching! My author visits are interactive, fun and informative with the goal of inspiring kids to keep reading, writing, drawing, and creating. I generally teach about word choice and rhythm, color and image, and the iterative, imaginative process of creating.

Prebook sales are NOT required, but they are appreciated. I am also more than willing to work with you to find local businesses and the PTO to get book donations for the class.

Rates: I am always willing to work with YOUR school and budget. Generally, however, my rates are $200 for a single class (45-60 minutes), $500 for a half day (up to three separate classes, 45-60 minutes each.) I am also happy to do great level presentations.

*Presentations include a short, age appropriate presentation, activities and examples that demonstrate the concepts. Art and writing activities are based on age, input from the teacher, and time! I provide most materials (paper, paint, drawing boards, etc.) but may ask for basic materials such as pencils, water cups and paper towels.

REVIEWS:

“Madrona Elementary in Seattle had the pleasure of welcoming Kirsti Ringger to our school for an inspiring visit with our second graders. Her work blends creativity, humor, imagination, and a sense of wonder that immediately connected with our students.

Kirsti was incredibly relatable and engaging as she shared stories about her childhood interests and artistic journey, giving students a wonderful example of how passions and creativity can grow into a meaningful career. She finished the visit with an amazing hands-on art project where students visualized one of her poems and used watercolor to paint what they imagined in their minds. She thoughtfully brought all of the materials, and the students were so engaged they didn’t want the activity to end.

The students’ artwork, along with Kirsti’s books, remained displayed in the school for the rest of the year and continued to inspire conversations long after her visit. It was truly a memorable experience, and we would highly recommend Kirsti Ringger to any school or teacher looking for a creative, meaningful, and highly engaging author/art experience for students.”

A Magical Afternoon with Our First Graders

“The highlight of the visit was when she read one of her original poems aloud. The words painted pictures in our students' minds, and their hands couldn't wait to get to work! What followed was an outpouring of creativity as each child illustrated their own interpretation of the poem. The classroom buzzed with excitement, laughter, and genuine artistic expression. Every single student was engaged and inspired—no small feat with first graders!

This visit was a beautiful reminder of the power of imagination and creativity. The artist's passion for her craft and her genuine connection with our students left a lasting impression. She didn't just show our children beautiful artwork; she opened a door to possibility and encouraged them to see the magic in their own creative ideas. Thank you for sharing your gift with us—our young artists are still talking about fairy gardens and dreaming up magical worlds!”
